Combination Treatments: Why Your Patients Need a Plan, Not a Product | Skin Within Academy
Here is a question you have probably had from a patient: “Can you just do my cheeks?” It is a fair request. It is also where most treatment plans start to go wrong.
Why single treatments have limits
Dermal filler restores volume. It does not improve skin texture or tone. Skin boosters improve hydration and quality, but they do not replace structural volume loss. Each treatment does its job well within a narrow remit. Problems appear when one product is asked to solve several concerns at once.
What a tailored plan looks like
You assess skin quality, volume, movement and proportion together, then sequence treatment in the right order. That may mean improving skin health first, so that any volume you add sits in well prepared skin. It may mean using less of each product rather than maximising one. This is where clinical judgement earns its place, and it is what we build in our training.
A worked example
Why this matters for your practice
A well planned combination approach tends to look more natural and lets you use lower amounts of any single product. It also builds patient trust, because you can explain your reasoning clearly. Patients who understand why you recommended something come back.
